Itinerary

This 5-day Tanzania safari takes you through the famous Northern Circuit, visiting three of the most spectacular wildlife destinations in East Africa: Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti National Park. Designed for travelers seeking an authentic African wildlife experience, this safari offers incredible opportunities to witness the Big Five, explore vast savannah landscapes, and enjoy close encounters with Tanzania’s remarkable wildlife.

Your safari begins with a morning departure from Arusha as you travel toward Tarangire National Park, located approximately two hours from the city. Tarangire is famous for its dramatic landscapes, giant baobab trees, and large herds of elephants that roam the savannah.

Upon arrival, begin an exciting game drive through Tarangire’s diverse habitats, including river valleys, open grasslands, and seasonal swamps. The Tarangire River attracts wildlife throughout the year, making it an excellent location to observe elephants, giraffes, lions, zebras, wildebeests, buffalo, and many species of antelope.

At midday, enjoy lunch at a scenic picnic site within the park, where you can relax and enjoy the surrounding wilderness. After lunch, continue exploring the park on an afternoon game drive, searching for additional wildlife and enjoying spectacular views of the African savannah.

Later in the afternoon, depart Tarangire and drive toward the fertile highlands of Karatu near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Dinner and overnight will be at Marera Valley Lodge, a comfortable lodge surrounded by lush gardens and coffee farms.

After breakfast, depart for the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, often referred to as one of Africa’s natural wonders. The crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and hosts one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa.

Descend approximately 600 meters to the crater floor for an unforgettable Ngorongoro Crater game drive. Here you may encounter lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, hippos, wildebeests, and the endangered black rhinoceros. The crater’s ecosystem includes open grasslands, forests, and soda lakes, creating ideal conditions for wildlife viewing. Enjoy lunch at a picnic site near the famous hippo pool, where you can observe these impressive animals while taking in the surrounding scenery.

In the afternoon, ascend from the crater and continue your journey toward Serengeti National Park. As you enter the Serengeti ecosystem, the landscape gradually opens into the famous endless plains that stretch across northern Tanzania.

Dinner and overnight will be at Seronera Furnished Heritage Tented Lodge, located in the wildlife-rich Seronera region of the central Serengeti.

Today is dedicated to exploring Serengeti National Park, one of the most famous wildlife destinations in the world and home to the Great Migration ecosystem. The day begins with a morning game drive across the Serengeti plains when predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards are often most active. The open landscapes provide excellent opportunities to observe wildlife and capture stunning photographs.

Throughout the day, your guide will take you to different areas of the central Serengeti in search of the Big Five and other wildlife species including giraffes, elephants, hyenas, and large herds of wildebeests and zebras. The Seronera region is particularly well known for its high concentration of predators.

Lunch will be served at a scenic picnic site inside the Serengeti, allowing you to relax while enjoying the breathtaking surroundings. In the afternoon, continue your wildlife safari before returning to camp. Dinner and overnight will again be at Seronera Furnished Heritage Tented Lodge.

After breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive in Serengeti National Park as you begin your journey back toward the Ngorongoro highlands. This en-route safari drive provides additional opportunities to spot wildlife across the Serengeti plains.

The route takes you through the scenic landscapes of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, including dramatic highland scenery and traditional Maasai grazing lands. Lunch will be served at a picnic site along the route, where you can relax and enjoy the panoramic views.

In the afternoon, continue toward Karatu where dinner and overnight will once again be at Marera Valley Lodge.

After breakfast, enjoy a cultural visit to Mto wa Mbu, a vibrant village located near Lake Manyara and known for its diverse cultural communities. During this visit, you may explore the village by cycling through farms and markets or taking a tuk-tuk tour, allowing you to experience daily life in rural Tanzania. The tour may include visits to banana plantations, local farms, artisan workshops, and traditional homes while learning about local customs and agricultural practices.

After lunch, you will be transferred to the airport depending on your flight schedule, marking the end of your unforgettable Tanzania wildlife safari through Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti National Park.
